faces of leaves

Updated: Dec 12, 2023

Forestworkshop had a workshop in Kivikko Fine Art School on 15.09. Around ten children from six to seven years old participated in the workshop. We discussed how we how we showed our emotional information to each other, such as the impressions of the face. We explored the texture of the leaves, the faces of the tree, with the rubbing method. We used rice papers and Chinese ink to rub the natural texture of the autumn leaves.

Lots of fun 📷🙂!

PS: Rubbing, a skill for capturing the surface of the features may have been practiced in China as early as the 2nd century AD. There, rubbing (t’a-pen) was used to disseminate Confucian texts carved on large stones. These inscriptions and the rubbings made from them were valued both for their information and for their calligraphy.

Thanks all!
